Raising children takes up your time, to say the least. These clients have spent a long time being great parents. Now that their children are grown and out on their own, they are ready to prepare for the next phase of life. One of the ways they plan to do this is to build a beautiful and useful addition onto their home.
They have specific plans for their addition with one particularly interesting focus. The husband is an artist and has had to make do with painting in the basement for years. With this addition, he can finally have his own art studio where he can create his work with no worries. This is just one of the reasons they are doing this project. The couple are planning for the future and the possible difficulties with movement that can come with age. They want it to be one level with a carport so they can easily get to their car and easily bring things into the kitchen. They also plan on extending their drive way, building a new dining room and butler???s pantry. They love to entertain, so the larger dining room will allow them to host large and comfortable, entertaining events. They plan to add more laundry space to make doing laundry less of a hassle. They also plan to build an office to have a comfortable place to work. Our designers make sure to accommodate all of these needs.
We are now going to begin our space planning phase. The big design goal is to have open and easily navigable space for them to use. Our designer, Jakiya Mixon, drew up several different ideas and floor plans specifically tailored to them. This process takes several tries and a good bit of deliberation, as the clients want their new addition to be perfect. Finally, they have settled on a specific plan. This plan has lower square footage than they initially intended but it is perfect for what they want and incorporates all of the things they want in this project.
That concludes our introduction to this beautiful addition. Check back soon to learn about the building phase of our project.
