Call it a partial remodel, a kitchen facelift or cabinet refinishing.?? By any name, a well-executed update of an existing kitchen can yield excellent results in terms of beauty as well as value.?? Take this recent project for example. Most would assume this was a re-do from the ground up but it wasn???t.
As you can see in the before picture, the original kitchen was sound but in need of an update. And for these clients, the needs were more than cosmetic.?? There were storage and efficiency issues with the existing layout that needed to be resolved as well. They also needed to replace outdated and broken appliances that needed to fit in the final design scheme.
The answer lied in blending old and new by modifying certain cabinet elements to meet the functional goals and then painting all the cabinets to match.?? For example, note the door and drawer combination at the location of their un-used bar top (foreground).
At the heart of the excellent result is a talented design team that found ways to meet the current goals without entirely starting over.?? The remainder of the magic lies in material selection and installation.?? Marble-look Cambria Torquay quartz countertops, cabinets dressed in Sherwin-Williams Alabaster paint, subway tile in gloss biscuit, updated pulls and stainless appliances.?? All in all, a custom, like-new result at half the investment of a full remodel with all new cabinets.
